Inspect what guests actually use
Walk a room in the order a guest would use it: entrance, lighting, luggage area, bathroom, temperature controls and charging points. Use the same checklist and clear issue descriptions. Photos can help colleagues locate a problem, but should exclude guest belongings and personal information.
Give every issue an owner
Separate defects that require taking a room out of service from cosmetic or scheduled work. Let the responsible technical team determine the appropriate action. Make the operating status visible to reservations and housekeeping so a room is not released on an assumption.
Verify before closing
A repair is not complete because a task was assigned. Confirm the result, restore the room and update its availability through the agreed process. Review repeated faults by room and equipment type. Use that pattern to plan replacement or deeper investigation rather than making the same temporary repair repeatedly.
PUT IT INTO PRACTICE
- Use a consistent room-readiness checklist.
- Connect repair status to room availability.
- Verify completed work and review repeat defects.
What to observe
Track repeat faults, unavailable room time and guest-reported defects.
